CEO

Vinod Guptan

Mr. Guptan has more than 27 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, having led operations, sales, marketing, planning and distribution for companies across Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, and South and Southeast Asia. In his most recent role as General Manager-Sales & Marketing of Surgipharm, one of Kenya’s primary local distributors of Pharmaceutical, Surgical, Medical Equipment & OTC range of products, he managed a fairly large team of personnel to ensure product introduction, market penetration, CRM, growth and profitability for the organization. Mr. Guptan has been involved in a number of successful start-ups throughout his career. He helped re-launch Abacus Pharma from zero in Kenya to strengthening its East Africa’s production capability of I. V. Fluid and branded generic products in the country and during his leadership as the Director in Kenya, the company expanded its market base. He has an MBA from the Indian Institute of Management Studies and a Bachelors of Science from Parle College, University of Mumbai, India. He is fluent in English, Gujarati, Hindi, Marathi, Malayalam, Bengali, Kiswahili, Konkani, Spanish, and Vietnamese.

Finance, Operations & Risk Director

Samuel Kimani

Samuel Kimani is the Finance, Operations & Risk Director and has more than 13 years of experience. He has a vast experience in Strategy and Business planning, Financial Modelling, Reporting, Accounting Operations, Tax, Financial planning and analysis (FPA), Budgeting, Business development, and commercial finance in Sub-Saharan Africa, with stints in the United States. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Nairobi, a Masters of Science degree in Finance from Kenyatta University and an ongoing Doctorate degree in Strategic Management from the United States International University. Samuel is also a certified public accountant CPA (K) with a fellowship at the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Kenya (ICPAK); and holds a Certificate in Computer & Software Application. Samuel is credited with leading ideation and eventual development of MedSource’s working capital solution – MedSource Inventory Finance, transforming MedSource into a Med-Fin-Tech and helping MedSource to accelerate achievement of its health access vision through financial inclusion in the Kenya Pharma sector. He is passionate about change management, lean processes and is always biased for action to deliver more with less. Prior to MedSource Group, Samuel worked at General Electric Company (GE Africa) and the national career Kenya Airways (KQ) in various capacities in the finance, strategy and operations. He has also worked as a Board Member at the Mhasibu Sacco.

Programs & Grants Manager

David Karia

David Karia is the Programs & Grants Manager with over 17 years of experience in the nonprofit space and the corporate world David worked with World Vision International-Kenya for 10 years starting as a graduate intern and rising through the ranks to the Programme Manager- a senior leadership position. Prior to joining MedSource in 2021, David served as a consultant in Fundraising, Governance and Programme Design. Among some of the organizations David has consulted for are USAID, UKaid, Ministry of Foreign Affairs-Netherlands funded programmes as well as numerous organizations in Kenya. David in his spare time does pro bono consulting for projects impacting the marginalized and vulnerable groups.

Sales Manager

Wycliffe Ombogo

Wycliffe Ombogo is the Head of Sales at MedSource. Wycliffe joined MedSource in 2021 as a sales supervisor and rose through the ranks to his current position in July 2022. He has demonstrated an aptitude to lead high performing teams and possesses deep mastery and insights of the pharmaceutical supply chain industry with more than 10 years managerial experience in Sales and Marketing. He previously served as the Key Accounts Manager at Harleys Limited and Retail Sales Manager at Nila pharmaceuticals.

ICT Manager

Maureen Njue-Musau

Maureen Njue-Musau is the MedSource ICT Manager. She has over 13 years of experience in tech with five years in senior management positions. She previously served as the Academic ICT Solutions Lead at the Kenya Education Network. Maureen has exemplified a passion for leadership, project management, and business strategy. She has worked on hundreds of projects with customers, including educational, research, and government institutions, to meet their technical, business, and strategic goals delivering cost-effective, robust, and secure solutions.

Credit Controller

Susan Njiru

Susan Njiru is the Medsource Credit Controller. She is a strong accounting professional and holds a Certified Credit Professional accreditation. She has more than 13 years’ experience in credit management roles with an extensive part of it in the healthcare industry. She previously worked for Harleys Limited as the Senior Credit Controller. Susan brings expertise in negotiation, cash flow, financial risk and risk management that have seen her drive high performing teams and deliver efficient credit control for businesses.

Supply Chain Lead

Dr. Michael Onyango

Dr. Michael Onyango is the MedSource Group Supply Chain Lead. Dr. Michael holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy and is a registered member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Kenya (PSK). His experience spans across clinical and industrial pharmacy and healthcare value chains. Michael is the Secretary Trade, policy and Regulatory Committee in the Kenya Association of Pharmaceutical Industries (KAPI) and serves in the Supply Chain Committee at Kenya Healthcare Federation (KHF). Michael is a strategic thinker and works collaboratively to build strong relationships with stakeholders across the supply chain, from manufacturers and distributors to healthcare providers and regulatory bodies.
